Get to Know About Drip Bag Coffee and Why It's Different!

What is Drip Bag Coffee?

First thing first, what is drip bag coffee? The drip bag was first invented in Japan in the 1980s and has since become popular with coffee fans everywhere. Drip bag coffee is one of the most convenient ways to brew fresh, high-quality coffee with little or no cleaning! This product makes brewing coffee to be as simple as pouring hot water over coffee grounds and letting it drip into a cup before serving.

Coffee lovers carry drip coffee bags on the road. For example, if you are on a long flight or if you only travel on weekends. As a pre-ground coffee bag, drip bag coffee is a real lifesaver.

They mostly come in relatively small sizes that they literally fit in your pocket or purse. Gone are the days when you had to settle for bad coffee because you had no choice.

Why is it called drip coffee?

Why, of course, because it includes a drip, drip, drip process! Drip coffee is one of many methods under manual brewing or filter coffee. Drip coffee is simple and does not use machines unlike its counterpart espresso. Which can be done simply by adding the right amount of hot water.

But why is it different from espresso?

Espresso requires a machine and dialing that creates a concentrated nectar that can be turned into various products depending on one’s preferences. Whereas drip coffee allows the coffee to steep gently while it flows gravity to get a smoother long drink with clarity

The invention of drip bag coffee helps all of the coffee lovers who: (1) do not have the coffee machine; or (2) do not have the time to brew/buy a coffee

Drip bag coffee is the easiest way to make a great cup of coffee from the comfort of your home. If you don't have a coffee machine at home and you're too lazy to go out for a good cup of coffee, you might consider storing drip bag coffee at home. All you need is a packet of drip bags, which contains freshly ground coffee powder.

What Makes Drip Coffee Different?

Compared to espresso, this method only relies on heat-induced pressure to deliver it to the showerhead and gravity to pull it down. It dissolves a much smaller amount of the dissolved mass and the paper filter common to this brewing method traps a lot of oil that would otherwise be in espresso, French press, or percolator coffee. Brewing coffee this way is uncomplicated, inexpensive, and very common.

Among baristas, the term "brew" is sometimes used to refer to manual brewing methods such as pour-overs. It is somewhat synonymous with the terms "craft coffee" or "artisan coffee" and usually means the talent and effort put into it. Drip coffee is a product of automatically-processed coffee which includes grounding coffee beans, pouring water, and pressing a button.

What Makes Drip Coffee Different?

Why should you stock drip bags in your house?

  • You can make it anywhere, and anytime you want. All you need is hot water and a cup.
  • You can make a freshly brewed coffee straight into the cup
  • Unveils the original flavor and maximum freshness– without any add-ons
  • Perfect when you need a cup of good coffee, indoors or outdoors.

How much water do you put for drip bag coffee?

Well, it depends on your taste, and of course, your drip bag coffee products. You are, after all, the bearer of its taste in the end.

Kisaku drip bag coffee did not require a steeping process because we let all the water finisih. You will need 150 - 200 g of water until all the water drains out, depending on how light or heavy you like your coffee.

Kisaku drip bag coffee will never over-extract the grounds and lose some of the notes of the softer taste, because the water will 100% finish before the 1.30 minute mark, due to a set grind size.

Things To Remember When Brewing Drip Coffee Bags

1. Water Temperature

Not only quality, temperature of the water can also determine the quality of the coffee you brew! The most suitable temperature for brewing is around 80° - 90°C, which ideally is 87°C

2. Water Composition

As mentioned above, stick to your preferences with the steeping time. Every 10 grams of drip coffee bags only requires 150-160 ml of water in total (including for the blooming process). If you don't want it to be too thick, you can use 185-190 ml of water.

3. Don’t drink it immediately

Never serve hot and piping coffee, let it cool to 65 °C - 79 °C so you can taste it right without burning your tongue.
